Our Reformer Pilates Teacher Training Course is a comprehensive program designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to confidently teach Reformer Pilates to a wide range of clients. With a strong focus on anatomy, advanced movement theory, and practical application, this course prepares you to deliver safe, effective, and engaging sessions. Whether you're looking to enhance your Pilates teaching repertoire or start a new career, this course will set you apart in the competitive Pilates industry.
Course Structure
This 3–5-month part-time course includes:
- 5 Half-Day Practical Training Sessions:
Hands-on, in-depth sessions covering fundamental and advanced Reformer techniques, exercise modifications, and effective use of equipment. - Advanced Movement Theory:
A deep dive into anatomy and movement science, including topics like myofascial slings, postural syndromes, and lumbo-pelvic stability. - Self-Practice:
Trainees are required to complete 20–30 hours of self-practice to refine techniques and build confidence in their skills. - Observation and Assisting Teaching:
Observe experienced instructors for 20–30 hours to learn effective teaching strategies and assist in classes to gain valuable hands-on experience. - Practice Teaching:
Accumulate 10 hours of supervised or peer-based teaching to develop confidence and refine instructional techniques. - Logbook and Case Studies:
Maintain a logbook to document training hours, self-practice, and observation. Complete case studies to apply course principles to real-world scenarios. - Lesson Planning:
Develop and submit detailed lesson plans to demonstrate your ability to design effective and progressive sessions. - Final Assessments:
- A 100-question multiple-choice theory exam covering anatomy, teaching methodology, and Pilates fundamentals.
- A practical teaching test to demonstrate your ability to lead a session and adapt exercises to meet client needs.
Time Commitment
To successfully complete the course, trainees should expect to commit:
- 25 Hours on Practical Training Days
- 50–70 Hours of Studio-Based Training and Practice:
- 20–30 hours of self-practice
- 20–30 hours of observation or assisting teaching
- 10 hours of practice teaching
- 60 Hours of Home-Based Practice, Preparation, and Revision:
- Includes self-practice, studying anatomy, lesson planning, logbook completion, and preparing for assessments.
This flexible structure allows you to fit the required hours around your schedule, spreading the course over 3–5 months based on your availability and commitment.

- Saturday, 5th April, 1–5 pm
Course Cost
- Full Course Upfront: £945 (includes a non-refundable deposit of £200)
- Payment Plan: £200 non-refundable deposit and 4 instalments of £225 (payable on 1st February, 1st March, and 1st April)
Fees include all practical training days, course manual, and a certificate upon successful completion. Please note that self-practice, class attendance, and observation hours are not included in the course fee. These can be completed at any studio, with hours signed off by an instructor in your logbook.
Learning Outcomes
Through successful completion of this course, you will:
- Master proficient teaching of the classic reformer Pilates exercises, encompassing mobility, core/abdominal, and upper and lower body movements, ensuring continuous challenge and progression for clients.
- Understand the intricacies of exercise "layering," enabling the delivery of tailored progressions and regressions to meet individual client needs and abilities.
Master optimal use of the Reformer to provide clients with exceptional movement experiences, whether in group classes or one-on-one sessions and demonstrate the safe operation of the Reformer and the effective incorporation of small equipment to amplify client workouts.
Apply modified exercises to address common pathologies, including pre and post-natal conditions and low back pain, ensuring safety and efficacy while promoting optimal client outcomes.
Design customised workouts suitable for both beginner and intermediate clients, integrating tiered programming for client development.
Utilise verbal, visual, and kinesthetic cues effectively during instruction to enhance client understanding and engagement.
Additionally, you will delve into advanced anatomy and movement theory, covering topics such as:
Myofascial Slings: Exploring the interconnected networks of fascial tissue and their role in movement coordination and stability and applying this knowledge to enhance exercise programming.
Upper Body and Lower Body Cross Syndrome: Understanding the imbalances and compensatory patterns that arise from prolonged postural habits and implementing corrective strategies to address these issues.
Deep Neck Flexors: Recognising the importance of these muscles in maintaining cervical spine stability and preventing neck pain and integrating exercises to strengthen and activate them effectively.
Lumbo-Pelvic Stability: Using applied theory for stabilisation and treatment of common conditions of the sacroiliac joint and lumbar spine and implementing appropriate modifications and precautions to accommodate clients with these conditions, ensuring safety and optimal outcomes.
By integrating these advanced concepts into the curriculum, graduates will emerge equipped with a comprehensive understanding of Reformer Pilates instruction, backed by a strong foundation in anatomy and movement science and rehabilitation techniques for common conditions.

- Self-Practice:
Dedicate time to practicing the exercises, refining your technique, and building confidence in teaching movements effectively. This is crucial for developing a strong foundation and understanding of Pilates fundamentals. - Revision on Anatomy and Conditions:
Regularly review the anatomy, movement science, and specific conditions covered in the course, such as low back pain and postural imbalances. This preparation will ensure you’re ready for the theory exam and able to apply your knowledge to real-world scenarios. - Observation and Assisting Teaching:
Spend time observing experienced instructors in action and assisting in classes where possible. This provides valuable insights into effective teaching techniques, client engagement, and exercise adaptations. - Practice Teaching and Lesson Planning:

Assessments
To successfully complete the course, you will sit a final exam that includes:
- A 100-question multiple-choice theory paper covering anatomy, Pilates fundamentals, and teaching methodology.
- A practical teaching test, where you’ll demonstrate your ability to lead a session and apply modifications and progressions as needed.
